Now Streaming: ‘Some Kinda Summer’
Hello to all,
Hope your holidays were warm and peaceful and this new new year has launched well so far.
Just a note to let you know that Some Kinda Summer is finally available for streaming and download on all the usual platforms:
The album got a great review in Vintage Guitar Magazine last month and sale of the disc has been brisk. I’m very pleased it is available to stream at last.
The Volcano Brothers began our monthly residency at The Vinyl Tap last week. We’ll play the first Wednesday of each month. Vinyl Tap is a combination record store, live venue and full service bar that we’re happy to call home for the foreseeable. We recorded an album a few months ago and are in the process of getting that ready for a release in the next few months. At the moment we’re leaning heavily to a vinyl only release, no CDs or streaming. I’ll keep you posted on this as we progress.
The movie Song Sung Blue has received tremendous reviews and done well in its theatrical release. I’m honoured to have played on all the Neil Diamond related music which makes up the vast majority of the soundtrack. We saw it a couple of weeks ago and it’s a great movie.
I’ve been writing and recording, stockpiling for another album for myself. Also, I’ve taken up the study of the Viola Caipira, a Brazilian 10-string small guitar. The strings are grouped in 5 pairs and it is tuned to an open D chord. The right hand rhythm technique is very different than that of a regular guitar and is best described as a cross rhythm. An ex-pat Brazilian musician living here in Nashville is helping me learn the basics and I’m happy to have his help.
That’s about it for now. Check out Some Kinda Summer online.
All the best,
